Review: Munchkin Fishin’ vs. CozyBomB Magnetic Fishing Toys
We tried two magnetic fishing toys at bath time: the Munchkin Fishin’ Magnetic Bath Toy and the CozyBomB Magnetic Fishing Toys Game Set. The CozyBomB set looks more exciting and comprehensive, but the Munchkin one is the one we kept.

Munchkin Fishin’ Magnetic Bath Toy
The Munchkin Fishin’ is a simple bath toy: one rod with a red and white bobber on the end of the line, and three floating characters to catch. The magnet in the bobber picks up each character from the top.

CozyBomB Magnetic Fishing Toys Game Set
The CozyBomB set is a bigger kit with two rods that have reels, plus nets and a big pile of sea animals to catch.

What we like about Munchki
Easy to catch a fish!
The magnet on the line is bigger, and each fish has its magnet right on top. Catching the fish is easy. Just lower the line near a fish and it sticks.
Meanwhile, the CozyBomb fish just has a small screw, which faces the side in the water and makes it difficult to stick.
It is Sturdier. The string is thicker and the whole set holds up better. It has outlasted the CozyBomB set in our house.
Simple works better. It is a much simpler toy, but it does the one thing a fishing toy needs to do. My kids actually want to fish with it.
Why we do not recommend CozyBomB
The concept is cool, the initial look is better. However, the CozyBomB set just did not work.
The string tangles and breaks way too easily. The thin string got tangled easily and I had to untangle it every minute. My little ones got frustrated every time it got tangled. It eventually broke off only in few days.
The fishes are too hard to catch. Catching a fish in the water was hard even for myself. My kids got frustrated and did not want to use it for fishing.
The rod did not last. As mentioned above, it kept having issues and completely broke off in few days.
In the clip, the Munchkin rod picks up a fish right away. Then I try the broken-off CozyBomB magnet by hand, and the fish keep sliding away instead of sticking.
Our verdict
Skip the CozyBomB set. It looks great, but the string tangles, the fish are hard to catch and our rod broke in under two weeks.
Get the Munchkin Fishin’ bath toy instead. It is simpler and sturdier, and little ones can actually can have fun catching the fish.

- The Munchkin set has 3 characters instead of 30 sea animals, so there is less to fish out of the tub and dry after bath time.
